IAN Evatt has challenged Xavier Amaechi to make the most of his opportunity at Wanderers after extending his loan from Hamburg.

Amaechi arrived at the UniBol over the summer but his early Bolton career was impacted by injury, having suffered a fractured metatarsal in a pre-season friendly against Preston.

The former Arsenal youngster finally made his Wanderers debut last month, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win against Crewe.

He has made eight appearances in total this season and scored his first goal for the club against Cheltenham several weeks ago.

Amaechi has now received international clearance and will be available for the Whites going forward.

Evatt is delighted to have secured the winger’s services for the rest of the season and is hopeful he can make an impact on the pitch.

“We’re really glad he’s still with us. He’s had a stop-start season and we just need to get him going with a clear run for the rest of the season,” he told the club’s website.

“The same could be said of a few of the players, so it will be good for him to get some regular games and show us what can do.

“We’ve seen flashes of it and it’s an opportunity for him now and he has to take it.”

Evatt’s men are back in action on Tuesday, January 11 when they welcome Wycombe to the UniBol (KO 8pm).
