DETECTIVES have charged a 41-year-old man with the murder of Tyrone Williamson last month.

Police have confirmed Anthony Derek George, of no fixed address, will be appearing before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this morning in connection with the offence.

The charge follows an incident where police were called to reports of a confrontation in Battenberg Road, off Chorley Old Road, at around 6.30pm, on Saturday, December 11.

Emergency services attended and Tyrone Williamson, 25, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Later it was reported he had died.

Another incident took place two hours later in Lincoln Road, Bolton, where Mr George was allegedly stabbed.

Four men have also been charged with attempted murder in connection with the Lincoln Road incident.

Roy Meanly, 28, of Rowena Street, Farnworth, Nathan Carney-Williamson, 30, of Battenberg Road, Jason Wilding, 27, of Withington Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, and Adam Disa Green, 21, of no fixed abode, have all previously been charged with his attempted murder and appeared in court. The four will next appear before Manchester Crown Court on January 19.
