A BURGLAR has been given a suspended sentence after targeting an elderly home care service and an estate agent.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed on Saturday that Scott Robinson, 44 of Thompson House, Atherton, had been arrested earlier in the week for three burglaries, carried out between August and October 2021.

His targets included Home Instead, a care service for elderly people on Market Street, Atherton, and estate agent Arc Homes, also on Market Street.

A police spokesman said: "Scott Robinson, of Thompson House, Atherton was arrested on Tuesday by PC Kiernan for three burglaries that had occurred at commercial premises on Market Street, Atherton, in August and October 2021."

Officers said Robinson was charged with these offences the same day and remanded in custody. He then appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on January 5.

The court heard how Robinson had burgled Arc Homes twice, the first time on August 24, when he stole two portable heaters worth a total of £200, and the second time on October 11 when he stole envelopes containing keys of unknown value.

He also burgled Home Instead overnight on August 2 and August 3, stealing a laptop worth £500.

After pleading guilty, Robinson was sentenced to 26 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, by magistrates.
