WANDERERS will be aiming to return to winning ways when they welcome Ipswich to the UniBol on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).
Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat against third-placed Wycombe on Tuesday night.
Team news
Aaron Morley is in line to make his Bolton debut after joining from Rochdale on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The Whites will assess whether to give Gethin Jones a first start since recovering from a fractured fibula.
However, Elias Kachunga will be out for two to three months after suffering a torn thigh.
Opposition lowdown
Ipswich sit 10th in the League One table, having picked up 35 points from their opening 25 matches.
Former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna took charge at Portman Road last month, succeeding Paul Cook.
The Tractor Boys recorded a comfortable 4-0 win against 10-man Gillingham in their last outing thanks to goals from James Norwood, Wes Burns, Macauley Bonne and Matt Penney.
Head-to-head
- Wanderers have faced Ipswich 47 times in their history, with a record of 14 wins, 12 draws and 21 defeats
- Ipswich ran out 5-0 winners when the sides last met at the UniBol back in August 2019 on a day to forget for Bolton supporters
Last meeting
The Whites recorded an emphatic 5-2 victory when the sides met at Portman Road earlier this season.
Macauley Bonne put the hosts in front but Evatt’s men hit back through goals from Dapo Afolayan and Eoin Doyle.
A Ricardo Santos own goal got the Tractor Boys back on level terms but Wanderers regained the lead on the stroke of half-time through Afolayan’s second of the afternoon.
After the break, Josh Sheehan and George Johnston also got on the scoresheet to wrap up a memorable day on the road.
