Residents are outraged after a recent spout of fly tipping in a Bolton neighbourhood.

Neighbours in Deane have caught numerous instances of rubbish being dumped on camera.

And there have been particular concerns over the state of Deane Church Lane and fly tipping beside Dove Mill.

The fly-tipping includes bin bags full of household waste, bedding, mattresses, clothes and even a rat.

One resident, who doesn’t want to be named, said: “Every four weeks the council remove about two dozen bin bags from the side of Dove Mill, in the back street of Deane Church Lane.

“It now seems it’s become acceptable within the council for people to dump their rubbish wherever they want.

“It’s the same people week in, week out who are responsible yet our....council (does) nothing about it.

“Come on Bolton Council enforcement team, enough is enough.”

Cllr Toby Hewitt, Hulton ward councillor, said the council is doing its best to take action against fly-tipping.

He said: “We absolutely enforce fl- tipping, when we can prove who did it.

“Our teams are working very hard to remove waste when it’s been left, even through the pandemic.

“It isn’t acceptable that there are people out there thinking it’s okay to dump waste.

“I would advise residents when they see it, to report it.”

A Bolton Council spokesman added: “Bolton Council has a zero tolerance policy on fly-tipping.

"We will prosecute any business or individual found to be dumping waste illegally in our borough.

“We urge residents to report any issues of fly-tipping to the council using our online reporting tool.”

The council previously took steps to reduce the amount of fly tipping, including putting a £400 fixed penalty notice or an unlimited fine in place for those illegally dumping items.
