Happy Mondays dancer Bez is now self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.

The 57-year-old said he is "gutted" that he will now have to put his Dancing On Ice training on hold hours after his skating debut.

Bolton-born Bez, whose real name is Mark Berry first appeared on Sunday's live show for the ITV series' first episode.

He told the Daily Star: "I'm gutted because I'm going to be missing training but I'm looking forward to skating on the show again for Week Three and I'll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.

Responding to the news, an ITV spokesperson said: "We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

Bez if famous for his onstage antics and made a splash with his performance as the first contestant to wear a helmet.

Despite receiving just 12.5 out of 40 from the judges, Bez's debut won the hearts of viewers.

He was one of six out of the competition's 12 couples who took to the ice over the weekend.

The other six couples will make their first appearances on the show this Sunday.

Dancing On Ice will continue on Sundays on ITV.
