AN investigation is underway after two men tried to rob a delivery driver and threatened a woman at gunpoint at a Morrisons store.

Police were called to the scene at Morrisons Daily on Brownlow Way, Bolton, at around 7.15am on Sunday, January 16, to reports of a robbery and a man armed with a gun.

There they found that two men had tried to rob a delivery driver by threatening him with a gun and that when a woman tried to intervene they then threatened her with the weapon as well before fleeing the scene.

A witness who saw the store being taped off in the aftermath of the robbery said: "I first noticed it maybe late morning, early afternoon.

"Morrisons was closed off, the whole entrance from the Morrisons Daily to the car park was taped off."

The witness says six to eight police officers were on the scene, with three marked cars, a marked police riot van and an unmarked Peugeot.

He said: "The officers weren't dressed in full forensics suits but they had cameras and were taking photos of the scene."

Police say that no injuries have been reported and no arrests have yet been made.
