A DRUG driver has been arrested after leading police on a chase through a Bolton park before being caught and testing positive for cannabis.

The Vauxhall Astra driver was pursued from Bolton on the afternoon of Monday January 17 and tried to escape by cutting through Cutacre Country Park in Over Hulton.

Officers managed to stop the car in the park just before 4.30pm and found that they had already dealt with the same driver last week after a collision on Kenyon Way, Little Hulton.

A police spokesperson said: "Seems some people just never learn.

"He was a little surprised to see the same officers again."

After stopping the car in Cutacre Country Park, officers found that it had false number plates attached while the driver was a provisional licence holder with no insurance.

The driver was then arrested at the scene after failing a drugs test for cannabis.
