A MAN has been charged in connection with seven robberies against young people and teenagers in Bolton town centre.

Anthony Robert Haslam, 28 of no fixed abode, has also been charged with a public order offence.

According to police, Haslam is alleged to have approached young people and teenagers around Newport Street, the Bolton Interchange and Victoria Square and and threatened them in order to take money off them.

Haslam is also alleged to have taken have taken young people to a cash machine in order to threaten them to make them withdraw money.

The robberies were committed between November last year and mid-January.

Greater Manchester Police say that Haslam was arrested after the Bolton Town Centre policing team uncovered the necessary evidence to secure charges.

He has now been remanded in custody and will appear before Wigan Magistrates Court on Thursday to enter a plea.
