A teenage boy was hit with a baseball bat following a 'vicious and nasty' street robbery.

He was one of two boys from Bolton who were approached by a group of seven to 10 people at around 5.20pm on December 30 on Richmond Terrace, Darwen.

The boys aged 16 and 14 were then threatened before being attacked.

The older of the two boys was punched and hit with a baseball bat, suffering a chipped tooth and a suspected broken nose.

The second victim was punched and had a space grey iPhone XR, £350 in cash and a Gucci bag stolen. Both boys had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

One of the suspects is described as aged between 25 and 30-years-old, wearing a grey coat, black neck warmer and a black man bag.

Police are appealing for information and urging anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.

Detective Constable Amelia Warren, of Blackburn Police, said: “This was a vicious and nasty robbery which left both boys injured.

“We would ask anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

“Did you see a group in the area, or two boys being threatened? If so please get in touch with police.”
