Our live feed has now finished.

  • Reece Tansey, aged 15, died from multiple stab wounds following an altercation in Walker Avenue, Great Lever in the early hours of May 4.
  • Emergency services were called to the street at 4.43am and Reece, a pupil at Harper Green School, was rushed to Salford Royal hospital but doctors were unable to save him.
  • Two teenage boys, then aged 15 and 14, were arrested and charged with Reece’s murder.
  • The teenagers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were convicted following a trial at Manchester Crown Court. Boy A, now aged 16, was found guilty of murder and Boy B, aged 15, of manslaughter.
  • The judge, Mrs Justice Farbey, will sentence them today and, following an application by The Bolton News, will decide whether reporting restrictions can be lifted enabling the defendants to be named.
