Emergency services were called to Tyldesley in the early hours of the morning after an abandoned vehicle was found on fire.

The call was made at around 12.10am this morning.

Police and fire were both sent to the scene where the Ford S-Max was in flames on Common Lane.

A fire service spokesman said: "It was an abandoned vehicle on fire.

"Police attended and investigated it.

"We were there for about an hour.

"We had one unit which used a hosereel and two breathing apparatus."
