A majority of retailers selling e-scooters in Greater Manchester inform customers about legal restrictions, according to a new study.
The vehicles are classified as "powered transporters" meaning they are subject to the same restrictions as cars.
They have grown in popularity in recent years in the UK but some do not know the law that surrounds them.
40 stores across Greater Manchester were visited by mystery shoppers and it was found 75 per cent told customers it is illegal to ride them on roads and pavements and they can only be used on private land.
Kevin Hargreaves, Highways Key Route Network Manager at Transport for Greater Manchester, said: “With e-scooters growing in popularity, it’s more important than ever that the people buying them understand the laws that apply to their use.
