MENOPAUSAL women can attend a personalised fitness class to teach them how to care for their bodies.

Sally Bolton, in Horwich, is set to start classes at BodyPro Personal Training at the end of the month, for women currently going through menopause, to help them understand the changes to their bodies.

She said: “It’s even for women who are not sure if they are going through it yet, but it’s meant to be an educational class. There is very little out there, so it can be a scary time for them. It can be debilitating, so my programme will help them manage their lifestyles better.

“It’s important to look after your body, keeping as much muscle mass as possible. Women are usually scared of strength training, because they think they will get big, but it’s a myth.

“Strength training is the best thing you can do and the women I did this with before said they felt better after doing it.”

The group can also ask questions and talk to 47-year-old Sally about what they are feeling so they can come to terms with the changes.

She said: “I want them to know they’re not going mad and that this is normal.”

Sally went through the same thing herself and has grown her Eat Train Love business over the years after she worked as a sports therapist.

The six-week course also includes strength training with weights, kettle bells and dumbbells included.

Sally, who has also been training staff at Westhoughton High, said: “It’s really effective for women because it builds muscle mass, which women need to retain and something we start to lose as we get older.

"It also keeps women safe from osteoporosis in the future because your hormones decline.”

A HIIT class is also in the programme, which will help women learn the types of intensity they need to incorporate.

Sally added: “I am on a mission in 2022 to make more of an impact and open up the discussions around menopause. To be able to talk about it openly and without judgement so that women feel less alone."
