A FIFTH man has appeared in court following the stabbing of 41-year-old Anthony George in Bolton on December 11.
At Manchester Magistrates' Court Brendan Carney, aged 26, of Cloister Street, Bolton, appeared charged with the attempted murder of Mr George.
Four other men are already in custody charged with attempting to murder Mr George.
They are: Roy Meanly, aged 28,of Rowena Street, Farnworth; Nathan Carney-Williamson, aged 29, of Battenberg Road, Bolton; Jason Wilding, aged 27, of Withington Road, Whalley Range; Adam Disa Green, aged 21, of no fixed address.
Police had been called to Lincoln Road, at 8.40pm and Mr George was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The stabbing came just two hours after reports of another stabbing in nearby Battenberg Road, Bolton, in which 25-year-old Tyrone Williamson died.
