TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular Horwich Locos worker and Bolton Hospice supporter.

Patricia Lynch (nee Chadwick) died peacefully at her home on December 28.

The 81-year-old was the dear wife to the late Patrick, treasured mum to Sean and Sharon, devoted nanna to Danny and Christopher, much loved great nanna to Arthur and Teddy, and a good friend to many.

Daughter Sharon said: “She was a strong-willed woman, very black or white.

“She was a good listener and had lots of time for her friends and family and even though she may not have been out and about, she had many friends.

“She worked as a wages clerk at the Horwich Locos since she left Mount St Josephs School in Farnworth.

“When the Locos closed she went onto work at Index which is part of the Littlewoods group and dealt with the returns.

“She loved dancing and especially line dancing and went three times a week even in her 70s.

“I think she loved line dancing because it was part of group and everyone was joining in. She also liked sequence dancing too.”

Patricia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and it was later discovered that cancer had returned to her liver in 2016.

Sharon admits that dealing with the condition was just part of her personality.

She said: “She never complained or moaned about it. She lived at home and fought it to the end.

“Some of her friends and family have been in contact with us since she died to say she was always there for you and did not tell people about her being in pain.

“She helped to bring all the kids up and had two great grandchildren.”

Among her other hobbies included doing crosswords and word searches and also going on holidays to Majorca with friends in November and January or February to enjoy to ‘winter sun’.

The family have asked for donations to be given to Bolton Hospice as it was close to Patricia’s heart.

Sharon said: “She supported the hospice and once won the £1,000 jackpot and did the raffle every week and she knew what a great job they were doing.”

Patricia’s service will be held on February 1, 10.30am at St Mary’s Church, Horwich, followed by the Committal at Howe Bridge Crematorium. Family flowers only please.
