A TEEN boxer has appeared on an ITV show looking at talented women in sports.

Paige Haworth, an English National Champion from Westhoughton, was at the Gallaghers Boxing Gym in Rochdale when the ITV team travelled to meet a dedicated set of girl boxers looking to smash records.

The 16-year-old featherweight, with two titles under her belt, dreams of becoming an Olympic champion, and is working hard to achieve her goals.

Speaking to the cameras, Paige said: “I think it’s just that drive once you find something that you’re good at and that you’re passionate about, you just try to give your all.

“You either go big or you go home, and you got to give it your all while you can.”

Each episode of Driving Force looks at famous sports stars as they discuss their journey to success, including the hurdles they faced and what empowers and inspires them.

With people like racing car driver Jamie Chadwick, a W Series champion, and boxing’s Natasha Jones, the show aims to raise the profiles of women in sport.

Paige is inspired by boxers like Savannah Marshall, Katie Taylor and Aleksandr Usyk, who recently beat Anthony Joshua.

She said: “I really enjoyed working with Driving Force - they were extremely encouraging and interested in us as individual athletes.

“I really enjoyed talking to them and hearing from Natasha about life as an elite athlete and watching the Katie Taylor episode.

“I am hoping driving force will bring more attention to female sport and athletes like myself being viewed equally as athletes as we put just as much work in.

“I also feel like it was a great experience to have been a part in and have gained a lot of confidence since the episode.”

Paige is now looking forward to fighting in February.

A spokesman for Driving Force said: “These female athletes are all part of a generation that is addressing the balance of equality in sports for women, sharing some of the most controversial and uplifting stories to date.

“With the rocketing expansion of women’s sport, Driving Force celebrates and showcases the stories of the biggest sporting names and their stories of skill, resilience and determination.”

Paige will feature on episode three of the series.
