A DRINK driver, who was also travelling with flat tyres, has been arrested by police in Bolton.

Police reported on Saturday afternoon that the driver was stopped by officers in the Rumworth area of Bolton and, on being tested at the roadside, turned out to be three times over the alcohol limit.

Officers also discovered flat tyres on the car.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "The Rumworth Neighbourhood Team stopped a vehicle following reports of a suspected drink driver driving with flat tyres.

"A roadside breathalyser was conducted and the driver was three times over the limit.

"The driver was subsequently arrested for the offence."

This marks the second driver arrested in the area for alcohol offences with another having been caught driving over the limit near a school in Rumworth on Friday.

No one was injured and no property had been reported damaged as a result of either case of drink driving but this still could have proven to have been extremely dangerous for pedestrians and other road users.

This also comes amid Greater Manchester Police's city-region wide None for the Road campaign, which aims to crackdown on drink driving.

Anyone with concerns about drink driving can contact police on 101.
