IAN Evatt is pleased with the way new signings Kieran Sadlier and Kyle Dempsey have started life at Wanderers.

Sadlier was handed his first start since arriving from Rotherham against Burton on Tuesday night and showed some nice touches.

Dempsey – who joined from Gillingham on deadline day - also started against the Brewers, playing in a deeper midfield role alongside MJ Williams.

Evatt admits both players may need time to adjust to the Whites’ system but is encouraged by what he has seen so far.

“They are just coming into a team doing brand new things that neither of them are used to doing,” said the Bolton boss.

“The last time I saw Steve Evans’ Gillingham team they didn’t really play with the tactical detail that we do, and that is no disrespect meant.

“Rotherham have had a lot of success but they play a completely opposite way to the way we do, so it might take a bit of time.

“We saw flashes from Kieran on Tuesday night and I thought Kyle played really well, his energy really helped us second half.”

Both men could feature against Wimbledon this weekend as Wanderers aim to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Burton.

Evatt’s men have won six of their last eight matches as they aim to make a late push for a play-off place.

The Whites currently sit eight points behind sixth-placed Plymouth, who have played two matches fewer.
