A WOMAN was seriously injured by her own stolen car in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday after being the victim of a robbery.

Police confirmed that the woman in her 60s was hit by the car, a black Volkswagen T Roc, on Church Street, Horwich, as it was being stolen at around 9pm.

She had run out into the street to shout for help after finding an unknown man inside her home and was then hit by the car.

Insp Deborah Hurst, of GMP's Bolton district, said: "This was a horrific experience for the victim, we wish her well, hoping she makes a full recovery.

"Enquiries are ongoing but we are appealing for anyone with information to contact us.

"We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with dash cam footage which shows the VW T Roc since it was stolen on Sunday evening"

The woman has been taken to hospital where she remains with head, abdominal and leg injuries, while the car has since been recovered.
