SUPPORTERS of the Bolton Ukrainian Cultural Centre has repeated a plea to residents across the borough to help those in Ukraine by dropping off donations to them.

This Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, the Bolton Ukrainian Club will be a drop-off point for donations which will be sent to Poland and Ukraine to help those who have been forced to flee.

The Polish Integration Support Centre is leading this initiative and will be taking a truck to the Poland and Ukraine border this weekend.

Items being collected include foil survival blankets, toys, nappies, sanitary towels, crayons, clean towels, first aid kits, sleeping bags, metal cups, thermal clothing, hair brushes, shampoos, toothbrushes, children’s clothes and bandages.

If you would like to help by donating any of these items, the club will be open on Thursday from 7pm.

You can donate items at Bolton Ukrainian Social Centre, 99 Castle Street, Bolton BL2 1JA.

Donations can also be made at the Polish Club Back East Street, Bury, BL9 ORU, Monday to Friday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

On Saturday there will also be a solidarity with Ukraine public gathering, at the Town Hall in Bolton from noon to 2pm.

A spokesperson for the Bolton Ukrainian Cultural Centre said: “The Bolton Ukrainian community calls all our members and friends to again join us at Bolton Town Hall this Saturday in a public show of solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

“Spreading awareness is important locally as well as internationally as we pray for peace and raise funds for humanitarian aid.

“We hope as many people as possible will be able to come.”
