A SIX-year-old boy had his parents in stitches when he came home with the wrong Harry Potter outfit for World Book Day.
Noah Halligan, from Stoneclough, went shopping with dad Mark, hoping to find a Harry Potter outfit. But instead they came back with Hermione Granger’s.
Poor Noah “didn’t find it funny in the slightest” because he was really looking forward to dressing up as Harry, after not being able to because of Covid.
Mum Kim Wilson said her and Mark couldn’t talk because they were laughing so much when they saw the wig.
She said: “When he took the wig out of the bag, I said let’s try it on. That way we know it’s not part of it.
“He went in a paddy and didn’t find it funny in the slightest. It did say Harry Potter on the tag, but the wrong outfit was in there.
“He loves dressing up, but not as Hermione.
“We are keeping the outfit though because we have taken the tags off.”
Noah will still be going as Harry Potter. His mum and grandma, Jennifer Harlow, have already started to get creative by gluing a Harry Potter tie to a t-shirt, with a quote on from the film.
Felllow classmates at Prestolee Primary will all be making their own t-shirts inspired by book characters.
Kim added: “Children will have to guess what film the quote is from. When we found out from the school that he was dressing up in a t-shirt, he wasn’t happy about it.
“But it’s fun, and he enjoys it. My mum is better than me at making things, and she is mostly making the t-shirt.”
Noah loves looking at the pictures of Harry Potter and Avengers, but is happy reading any books on animals at the moment.
Part of World Book Day’s mission is to encourage children to read purely because they like reading.
Kim said: “His favourite books are any animal books because he just loves them.”
Noah has previously dressed up as Spider Man, Woody from Toy Story, and a T-Rex, all with the right outfits.
But this will definitely be the most memorable costume Noah has worn.
Kim said that he is still “very excited” and the mishap hasn’t put him off.
