We have all seen the horror of Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine unfold in recent days. Attacks on airports, radio television, and other facilities have been followed by shocking reports of attacks on civilians.
Despite this, Russian troops have encountered fierce resistance. President Zelensky has addressed the United Nations, calling on the world to stand by Ukraine.
Here in Bolton, Yaroslaw Tymchyshyn of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain has called on the UK government to step up support for Ukraine. The government must not drag it’s feet when it comes to humanitarian assistance and other measures.
As with any war it is always ordinary people who suffer the most. It’s essential that the UK makes every effort to welcome people seeking refuge.
We must stand in solidarity with Bolton’s Ukrainian community and fully support the Ukrainian people in this hour of need.
