A BOLTON Wanderers fan has been given a tattoo to display his love for the team while living overseas.

Originally from Tonge Moor, 29-year-old Jonathan Kinsella has lived in the Spanish seaside city of Torrevieja for the past five years.

But recently he decided to get a permanent and painful celebration of his Bolton roots etched onto his right thigh.

Mr Kinsella, who owns an air conditioning business in his new home town, professed that he “always wanted a Bolton tattoo,” but didn’t want a simple rendering of the badge or the initials ‘BWFC’.

Even though the tattoo is very recent, having been done in the last few weeks, Mr Kinsella’s body art displays Wanderer’s home one of its previous guises, The Reebok Stadium, rather than the current University of Bolton Stadium.

He said: “I used to walk, and when I come back to Bolton, over [Rivington] and that view there, I love it with the lights when it’s all lit up.

“I went on Google and I found this drawing of the Reebok and I took it to the tattoo artist.”

He added: “When I used to have a season ticket it was The Reebok. It’s always been The Reebok to me.”

Despite no longer being a regular at the stadium these days, the former season ticket holder regularly tunes in when The Trotters are playing.

He said: “I’ve always been proud of Bolton. Before I came to Spain I lived in America for a bit.

"No matter where I am in the world when it comes to Saturday at 3 o’clock it’s Bolton.

“My life still revolves around Bolton Wanderers Football Club.”

The process of getting a tattoo is never a comfortable one but seeing as though Mr Kinsella has a number of other tattoos, he did not have any qualms over getting back in the chair.

He admitted however, that this one took him somewhat by surprise

He added: “I’ve got quite a few tattoos and I thought that this one wouldn’t be that bad being on my leg on quite a fleshy bit, but it was horrendous.”

The whole process was done in one sitting which lasted around six hours.

When asked if it was all worth it, Mr Kinsella emphatically told The Bolton News: “Oh yes. 100 per cent.”
