Police officers will be attending the reopening of one of Bolton’s most historic venues later this month to speak to the public.

Officers from Bromley Cross and Turton local policing teams, along with officers from Lancashire Police’s Harwood local policing team will be at the reopening of Turton Tower on Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27.

They hope this will give people the chance to talk to them about crime and justice issues affecting their communities.

A police spokesperson said: “Come meet the team, your local policing team for Bromley Cross, Turton and Harwood will be joining their colleagues from Lancashire Constabulary for the reopening of Turton Tower on March 26 and 27.

“Please come down and talk to us about the issues that matter to you.”

Turton Tower had been closed since 2020, at first due to lockdown restrictions and then for renovations ahead of March 26’s public reopening.

The historic hall off Chapeltown Road lies just over the border from Bolton and is run by Blackburn with Darwen Council.

It is a scheduled ancient monument and a grade I listed building, built in the late Middle Ages.

It has become a popular spot for walkers during lockdown with the attached cafe also benefitting by serving takeaway hot drinks and cakes.
