PETER CLARKE, 34, was driving a BMW at grossly excessive speeds when it crashed through a barrier in the centre of a roundabout, plunging down onto the pedestrian underpass below and killing his partner, who was sat in the passenger seat. Clarke, who had only owned the car for a week and was badly injured himself, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.

GULED AHMED, aged 22, & MAHAD MUUMIN, aged 27, were part of a drug dealing gang who used vulnerable men's homes in Bolton as bases for carrying out their trade. Ahmed was jailed for 32 months and Muumin for 45 months.

LIAM CHALMERS, aged 32, was caught with a stolen iPhone in his pocket after agreeing to go burgling homes with his neighbour. The pair raided one house, waking a mum and her sons, who had been asleep upstairs. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

MAMOUDON SOW, aged 27, was caught dealing cocaine just three months after being released from prison. Sow was in a car being followed police and tried to escape, throwing away a bag containing 40 wraps of the drug as he fled. He was returned to prison for four years and two months.
