Faryal Makhdoom and Amir Khan have launched a fundraiser for Ukraine.

The Instagram beauty queen and boxer Amor announced on their social media accounts that they were raising money for the people left displaced in Ukraine since Russia invaded.

Together they released a statement from the Amir Khan Foundation that the team were getting involved, delivering food and essential items to refugee camps, where children and women were sleeping.

The statement said: Given the security situation on the ground is so volatile, the Amir Khan Foundation has selected an implementing partner to deliver assistance on the ground.

“The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is only one of few humanitarian organisations that can gain access to those most in need.

“We have already begun delivering food and hygiene packs, clothing, and first aid training, and with your help, can continue to provide necessities to those suffering. “

These include, food, water, first aid, medicines, warm clothes and shelter.

Faryal took to her Instagram to share screenshots of the Just Giving page, urging her followers to donate in this ‘giving’ month of Ramadan.

Amir Khan is often raising money for charitable causes and since Ramadan is the month in which Muslims are required to give some kind of charitable donation, Amir and Faryal launched their page for Ukraine.

She also posted a message from Amir, which said: “Ukraine needs our help.

“And with the arrival of Ramadan, almost half a million Ukrainian Muslims will struggle to observe this blessed month.

“We must act now to help all the innocent people suffering across Ukraine.”

So far, the team have raised £1, 787 from 20 supporters.

For £25, the team can buy an adult hygiene kit, containing essential hygiene items, including toilet paper, soap, shampoo and sanitary towels.

For £35, the team can buy items for babies, such as nappies, baby powder, blankets and a thermometer.

There is also a food pack for £25 that contains a mixture of essential food items like pasta, rice, tuna, oil, salt and sugar.

Faryal and Amir are also hosting a Ramadan Iftari event in London later this month, where they will also be seeking to encourage more donations to the appeal.
