Once again the councillors of Bolton bemoan the dwindling footfall on our high streets. How much money has been wasted on providing new shop fronts on Newport Street with no effect to town centre footfall? No there’s another hair brained scheme which will not provide a solution.

The answer is not to throw money at the problem but to find out what the problem is!

Does the council think that by putting housing on Moor Lane bus station it will revive a failing town centre by providing a ready made clientele? No.

When are they going to wake and smell the roses? Where in Bolton can you park without having to walk a long way with heavy bags?

Why does Bury and Chorley win. They have parking within easy walking distance of the town centre and reasonable parking charges and fewer goose stepping traffic wardens

Bolton, stop the rot, forget housing on Moor Lane, put a decent size car park and watch the town centre come back to life.
