TWO men were treated after suffering injuries in a crash at a busy junction in Bolton.

The crash at the junction of Blackburn Road and Halliwell Road, caused a road closure for Blackburn Road for up to 45 minutes at 11.45am on Monday.

Although not serious, two men were treated at the scene by ambulance services for minor injuries.

Fire units from Bolton Central and Bolton North were also in attendance after the white Toyota Prius appeared to have crashed into the back of the black Ford Mondeo.

A helicopter was also at the incident as police worked to clear the roads and get traffic moving again.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “It was a road traffic collision involving two cars, a white Toyota Prius, and a black Ford Mondeo.

"The accident was at the junction of Halliwell Road and Blackburn Road and two adult males were treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service.

"Blackburn Road heading North bound was closed for around 45 minutes and we have ow left the scene with police still there.

"The injuries do not appear to be serious."

A technical unit from Leigh was also deployed.

A spokesman for police said: “At 11.45pm we received reports of a two-vehicle collision on Halliwell Road.

"A helicopter and ambulance were present as well as the fire service.

"There were two people injured and the roads were blocked at the time."

The road has now been reopened.
