A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a robbery that took place earlier this week.

Police officers from GMP’s Leigh Atherton and Hindley’s division announced on Thursday morning that they had taken a 17-year-old into custody after a robbery in the Tyldesley area.

The boy will remain in custody ahead of being interviewed by officers.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “A 17-year-old boy has been arrested today, by officers from our District Tasking Team, for an offence of robbery.

“The robbery occurred in the Tyldesley area earlier this week.

“He remains in custody, where he will be interviewed in relation to the allegation by our Prisoner Processing Unit.”

Police have not as yet released any additional details about the robbery the boy is alleged to have been involved in other than that it took place in the Tyldesley area.

This comes with police aiming to crackdown on robbery and violence through initiatives like Operation Valiant, which has focused in particular on street robbery offences.

Anyone concerned about robbery or other cases of crime or anti-social behaviour in their communities can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
