CELEBRITY couple Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom have raised more than £26,000 for people in Ukraine.

The celebrity couple from Bolton were in London last night, Friday, to host their Iftar dinner – the sunset time at which Muslims open their fasts in Ramadan.

Faryal posted pictures of the night at Grosvenor House on Instagram, urging people to donate to the worthy cause, helping the people of Ukraine in a troubled time.

So far, the couple have raised more than £26,000 for Ukraine, with funds still pouring in on the page and donations can also be made via bank transfers not shown on the JustGiving page.

Photographer Joe Ibbotson, who attended the glittering event, said: "The Grand Iftar at Grosvenor House in the Great Room was an amazing night.

"I’m always really humbled and grateful to be invited to these events. At the heart of it is always a great cause and this time it’s for the refugees of Ukraine.

"Amir and Faryal are always doing their bit for those less fortunate in the world."

Faryal wore a glittering silver and black dress for the event and posed for pictures with fans as well as fellow boxers such as Adam and Hassan Azim.

Tyson Fury even donated a glove to the event as they auctioned items such as a glittering handmade art piece of Amir Khan to help raise money.

Cousin of Amir, young boxer Abdul Khan from Bolton was a special guest at the event and took pictures with Faryal and Amir.

Amir said: “We’re fundraising for the crisis in Ukraine, so every ticket is supporting a worthwhile cause, as millions have been left displaced by the conflict.

“Given the security situation on the ground is so volatile, the Amir Khan Foundation has selected an implementing partner to deliver assistance on the ground.

“The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is only one of few humanitarian organisations that can gain access to those most in need.

“We have already begun delivering food and hygiene packs, clothing, and first aid training, and with your help, can continue to provide necessities to those suffering. “

Faryal showed pictures of the grand venue on her Instagram, with herself and husband Amir in several snaps.
