Bolton boxer Amir Khan appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday with his wife Faryal Makhdoom and spoke about the moment he was robbed at gunpoint.

Speaking on video call from Dubai, the boxer detailed the shocking moment when he was held at gunpoint on a busy street in East London on Monday night and robbed of his watch, worth an estimated £72,000.

Talking to presenters Richard Bacon and Kate Garraway, Khan said: “We’d just walked out the restaurant, me and my wife, and as I crossed the road I was literally just getting into the car, that’s when I saw someone run up to me.

“At first I thought maybe it’s a friend of mine trying to scare me but I saw the gun and he put it in my face.

“I’ve even seen a gun in the UK, but for someone to have that on the streets just makes it so unsafe, that could have been anyone.”

The CCTV footage from the incident played as Amir detailed the robbery, showing two masked men getting out of a car and then approaching him and pointing a gun at him.
