IN CELEBRATION of The Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee, the 38th St Hilda’s Rainbows sent their best wishes to the queen in a handmade card.
Each of the Tottington Rainbows, aged between five and seven years old, drew their own photos for The Queen before they were stuck together to create one large card to be sent off to Buckingham Palace.
Rainbow leader Charlotte Bradshaw said: “The girls all drew photos we thought The Queen would like, wrote our names and sent it off to congratulate her on her 70th year on the throne.
“We were all so excited, especially when we received a letter back in the post from Buckingham Palace.
“Since then, all the Rainbows have been able to read and hold the letter and we have all been so happy about having a response back”.
The letter they received back, from the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting, Dame Mary Anne Morrison, reads:
To: The 38th St Hilda’s Rainbows
The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for the colourful card which you sent Her Majesty on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee.
The Queen was glad to hear from you and, although unable to reply to you personally, Her Majesty greatly appreciated the nice things you said.
I am to thank you again for your message of good wishes to The Queen in this, her Platinum Jubilee year.
Dame Mary Anne Morrison
Lady-in-Waiting.
One Rainbow, Bea, aged six, drew a crown and said: “I wanted to wish The Queen a happy 70th year on the throne”.
Other images included love hearts, castles, and images of Her Majesty.
