A number of streets across the borough will be closed in May for vital resurfacing works.

All traffic will be prohibited from proceeding on Church Street from Winter Hey Lane to Chorley Old Road and Chorley Old Road from Church Street to New Chapel Lane.

The roads will be closed for approximately six weeks from March 28.

An alternate route for traffic will be via Winter Hey Lane, Chorley New Road and Stapleton Avenue.

Georges Lane will also be closed for resurfacing works.

The road will be closed from May 3 for approximately two weeks for resurfacing.

The closure will prevent all traffic from proceeding on Georges Lane from Chorley Old Road to Old Rake.

An alternate route for traffic will be via Factory Hill, Mill Lane.

To ensure recycling bins are emptied during the works, council officials are asking residents to present them at the nearest accessible point to ensure that they can be emptied on the usual collection days.

Council officials say they want to apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
