MORE than 500 properties in Harwood were left without electricity after a power cut.

The power cut, which was caused by an unexpected incident on a high voltage cable, affected people living in the BL2 and BL8 postcode areas.

Electricity North West said the power went out at 10.23pm on Wednesday night and affected 517 properties.

Engineers were sent to investigate the fault.

Power was restored to the majority of properties within the hour.

The remaining 47 properties had the power switched back on by 3.30am Customers were kept informed of the situation on social media.

Although the cause of fault has not bee revealed.

There is also a power cut in Farnworth today, around the areas of St Germain Street and Heaton Avenue.

Electricity North West said the power cut was caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity.

It was first reported at 10:45 and is estimated to be restored in the next few minutes, and reportedly is affecting four customers.
