A group of baton twirlers have just returned home from their National Championships and they brought home national titles.

Bolton Baton Twirlers, a baton twirling club in Heaton, attended the National Championships in Crawley last week to compete against other clubs in the country.

They took part in Solo Twirl, Duo, Fancy Strut, Dance Twirl, Two Baton and Poise - and managed to come home with eight national titles.

Amongst the winners of the club was Emily Jackson, aged four, who was awarded the Overall National Champion after obtaining three second placings and one first national place.

Speaking about the championships, Rachael Miller, Coach at Bolton Baton Twirlers, said she is proud of the team.

She said: "We are extremely proud of all they achieved, they have worked so hard the last few months, constantly pushing themselves to better each performance and this showed in the results.

"There were 9 athletes from Bolton Baton Twirlers that took part, some sections that the competed in had over 30 plus other athletes, so the competition was fierce, but the athletes battled their way and brought home the medals and trophies.

"As the motto of our dance club says, "If you believe you can, You will!

"On Wednesday evening the atheltes took to the floor again and performed in a show, with many of our newer members, it went fantastically and we look forward to getting out in the community in the summer showcasing all the talents from our club.

"Bolton Twirlers are available for performances if anyone would like to book, we do these performances free of charge."

Bolton Baton Twirlers has been running since 1998 and are involved in many performances, shows, galas, community events and competitions.

The club is always looking for new members and there are lots of different activities including Pom Pom Dancing, Baton Twirling and gymnastics.
