Two "Knights of St George" have enlightened youngsters at a school in Bolton about their roles.

Beaumont Primary School in Rumworth were visited by the pair, who offered their time to go and talk to the children about their experiences of being knights.

Chris Houghton and Paul Birbeck, CEO and technical director, respectively, of Bolton-based IT company Eventura, are also members of the Royal Society of St George.

The Royal Society of St. George was founded in 1894 and aims to promote "Englishness" and the English way of life.

Stacey Postle, headteacher of Beaumont Primary School, was very positive about the visit.

She said: “At Beaumont, we pride ourselves on being a very multicultural school while learning about the heritage of our country.

“This fantastic assembly brought the history of England alive and the children were mesmerised with the Knights.”

A spokesperson from the school said the children loved asking questions and learning all about English history and the legend of St George.

They added that the children had an opportunity to look at the Knights armour.

One of the pupils, 11-year-old Alex Vance, was particularly inspired by the visit.
