A ROUND-UP of cases dealt with by magistrates recently

No insurance

MAGISTRATES have fined three people after they were each caught driving vehicles without insurance. Jason Budgeon, aged 37, of Poplar Avenue, Horwich, was caught driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Ivy Street, Bolton, on October 2 last year without a licence or insurance. He was fined £660 while six points were added to his driving record.

Sonny Dainton, aged 30, of Kent Court, Bolton, had no insurance for the VW Toureg he was caught driving on Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on June 1 last year. He was fined £440 and was banned from diving for six months.

Russell Jones, aged 60, of Chorley Road, Adlington, was fined £660 after he was found to have no insurance for the Mazda he was caught driving on Gaskell Street, Bolton, on September 21 last year.

Air pistol at takeaway

A TEENAGER has been ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work after he was caught carrying an air pistol at Shah’s takeaway on Bradshawgate, Bolton, on July 31 last year. Denico Holuj-Knott, aged 19, of Claude Street, Salford, pleaded guilty to committing the Firearms Act offence and also admitted possessing cannabis. The teenager was ordered to have treatment for drug addiction and must participate in 32 days of rehabilitation activities.

Breach of the peace

A MAN has agreed to keep the peace for the next six months or face paying £100. Ryan Potts, aged 22, of Oakfield Grove, Farnworth, admitted causing a breach of the peace in Bolton town centre on March 20.

Flytipper sentenced

A WOMAN caught fly tipping on land behind her Woodfield Street, Bolton, home has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work. Livia Krskova, aged 41, admitted dumping 14 black bin bags of rubbish behind the property on December 19, 2019. She was given a community sentence which includes 80 hours of unpaid work and six days of rehabilitation activities. Krskova was also ordered to pay £1,000 in Bolton Council costs.

Assault man fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £100 after he assaulted another man in Bolton on March 20. Hanifi Ocal, aged 38, of Nixon Road, Bolton admitted attacking Gary Thorpe. He was ordered to pay his victim £200 in compensation and must participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

Unpaid work for drink driver

A DRIVER who had drunk almost four times the legal level of alcohol has been ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work. Gareth Bulmer, aged 40, of King Street, Farnworth, was caught driving a Renault Trafic van on Singleton Road, Salford, on March 5. He was banned from holding a licence for 29 months and ordered to have treatment for alcohol addiction.

Drunk at bar

A WOMAN who admitted being drunk and disorderly at a Bolton bar has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months. Amber Jones, aged 31, of Hazel Avenue, Stoneclough, committed the offence at the Oxygen Bar in the Vaults on March 5.

Fined over train tickets

MAGISTRATES have ordered six Bolton people to pay more than £400 each after they were caught making short train journeys without valid tickets.

Fatima Abdalahi, aged 23, of Clyde Street, Bolton, was fined £220, plus £184 in costs and charges plus £4.70 in compensation after she failed to pay for a rail journey from Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly on November 15 last year.

Anthony Beer, aged 45, of Belmont View, Bolton, was fined £220 plus £187.80 in costs, charges and compensation after he failed to pay £3.80 for a rail journey between Heaton Chapel and Manchester Oxford Road on November 1 last year.

Lee Bowker, aged 49, of Spinners Mews, Bolton was fined £220 plus £202.70 in costs, charges and compensation after he failed to pay an £18.70 rail fare between Stoke on Trent and Manchester Piccadilly on November 14 last year.

Calvin Harrison, aged 27, of Bromwich Street, Bolton, was fined £220 plus £188.70 in costs, charges and compensation after he failed to produce a 16-25 railcard for the return railway ticket he had bought between Bolton and Salford Central on November 8 last year.

John Jones, aged 23, of Chorley New Road, Horwich, was fined £220 plus £188.70 90 in costs, charges and compensation after he failed to pay for a £4.70 journey between Deansgate and Bolton on November 5 last year.

Joseph McDaid, aged 37, of Moorfield Grove, Bolton, was fined £220 plus £188.90 in costs, charges and compensation after he failed to pay for a £4.90 rail journey between Hall i’th’ Wood and Manchester Piccadilly on November 8 last year.

Chocolate thief

A THIEF who stole chocolate and biscuits from a Bolton off-licence and alcohol from a supermarket has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction.Daniel Warburton, aged 28, of Windsor Grove, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stealing the items from Nav’s off-licence and Morrisons on Mornington Road, Bolton, on several occasions between January and March this year. He was ordered to pay a total of £300 in compensation to the stores and must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Jailed after assault

A MAN has been jailed for 18 weeks after he admitted assaulting another man in Bolton on February 28. Mohammed Hussain, aged 44, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £128 towards the costs of funding victim services. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting Umer Farooq or going to the Bolton Superstore on Egerton Street, Bolton.
