A project is underway to explore the history of growing up in Bolton, with researchers looking for residents to come forward with well-loved old photos.

The project, which is being run by Bolton Library and Museum Service, the Museum of Youth Culture and Age UK Bolton.

It will document youth culture between the 1950s and the 2000s.

A statement said: “Did you grow up in Bolton between the 1950s and the 00s?

“Did you dance the night away on Cinderella Rockefeller's, or did you know it as Ritzy, or even Central Park?

“Did you spend your weekend's playing football or cricket in one of Bolton's many parks with your friends?

“Did you take the night bus to Atlantis or watch local bands play gigs in one of Bolton's many rock venues?

“We have teamed up with the Museum of Youth Culture and Age UK Bolton for a new Project exploring the history of growing up in Bolton.

“No matter the decade you grew up in, you are invited to join us for a special Scanning Social event, in the History Center, Bolton Central Library, between 1pm and 3pm on Monday, May 16.

“We would love to see and collect your photo and stories of growing up in Bolton in the last 70 years.”
