A 26-year-old salon owner from Westhoughton will be completing a 24 hour cutathon marathon to raise money for the Scoliosis Research Foundation.

April Fairhurst, owner of April Elizabeth Hair and Beauty in Lostock, will be cutting hair for a full day to raise vital funds for a chairty close to her heart.

On June 11 starting at 5pm, April will start her fundraiser, cutting clients hair for a full 24 hours until 5pm on June 12.

All money made on the night and sponsorship money will be going to the charity, along with raffle money made with prizes donated by local businesses up for grabs, worth over £500.

Speaking about her marathon, April said: "This is a condition close to me and my family and friends.

"I have a close family member and a close friend who have Scoliosis and I've seen the impact that it is has on their lives so I wanted to raise money for this charity.

"Scoliolis Research Foundation's mission is to finance the research into the cause, prevention and potential cures of scoliosis.

"It also supports young surgeons and newly qualified doctors to asses new forms of treatment, surgical or otherwise.

"Scoliosis effects around 25 per cent of the population and at least 60 per cent of the population over the age of 60 have mild degenerative scoliosis.

"I'm not good at marathons, so I thought I'd stick to what I'm good at and cut hair.

"I was looking forward to the cutathon but now I'm getting nervous the closure it gets."

There are still some spaces left to have your hair cut if you would like to help April with her cutathon challenge.

April said: "I have clients who are already booked in for it but there are a few more spaces left if anyone would like to have their hair cut."

Raffle prizes include hynotherapy, candles, sweet treats, dance class, self care sets, hair cut vouchers, fitness training and much more.
