NETWORK Rail is warning passengers to plan ahead if travelling over the Jubilee weekend.

Customers are being warned that stations and trains are likely to be busy over the four-day bank holiday weekend.

A Manchester Piccadilly station spokesperson said: “If you're travelling over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend, please be aware that trains and stations will be busy.”

If people are planning on a weekend away, there are works that have closed sections of lines that may affect their travel plans.

A spokesperson for Northern Rail said: “If you’re travelling to or from Manchester and your journey involves travelling through Manchester Victoria, you’re advised to check before you travel as the lines between Salford Central, Manchester Victoria and Rochdale / Stalybridge will be closed from Friday June 3 until Sunday June 5.”
