Bolton: Couple make their milkshake dreams come true with new bar at Market Place

Sean Feney and fiancé Ericka Waldron’s milkshake love story began six years ago where they met in a milkshake bar, after Sean picked her CV out for an interview.

The couple now have three children together, Eli, aged five, Noah, aged three and Alexander, aged two.

Sean only opened Bear Shakes a week and a half ago and is hoping for it to be a huge success.

They even put off their wedding to open the shop.

He said: “We always dreamed of having our own milkshake bar.

“And six years later with three kids, here we are, even during some really trying times.

“Behind every good man is also always a better woman.”

Ashleigh Davies operations manager at Market Place said: “It’s great to see a milkshake bar in Market Place.

“Customers will love the vast selection of toppings and concept of choosing healthier or vegan options too.

“There’s literally something for everyone.

“I’ve enjoyed the Twix shake and will no doubt be back for another.

“Bear Shakes is a perfect addition to Market Place.”

Sean’s passion comes from the 'simplicity of working with a variety of chocolate and seeing the smiles on people’s faces'.

He added: “Isn’t working with a variety of chocolate everyone’s dream?

“It is a dream come true for us.

“Being able to provide something sweet that makes people happy and gives them joy is really nice, especially for the kids.

“No one goes away upset from a milkshake bar.

“It’s about the people waiting until Friday just for an Oreo milkshake.”

The milkshake bar offers a wide range of shakes, including plenty of sweet treats, fruity selections, and vegan options.

Sean added: “We are growing the free from range and vegan products.

“But we are still focussing on the full fat milkshakes that everyone loves.”

There will also be a 10 per cent student discount deal available every Thursday.

Bear Shakes in Market Place

Sean says that it is thanks to the support of their family and friends that this has been possible.

He added: “We are still very fresh, but we will be working to grow it on social media.

“We also want to make sure that what we are providing is good quality, and that they are tasty milkshakes made with love.

“Hopefully it all works out and takes off.”

They both live in Walkden but are originally from Galway in Ireland.

The pair don’t have a wedding date set officially but are hoping to set one “sooner rather than later in 2023”.
