Christine Baldwin, community champion at the Asda Bolton store, took part in a Rethink Food trial at St Matthew’s Primary School in Halliwell.
Three sessions were delivered to the pupils and they gained an introduction to the global problems everyone faces linked to climate change with a particular focus on food waste, looking at what positive action can be taken to solve the problem.
Pupils looked at the real-life process of setting up a business and social enterprise, learning about roles and responsibilities setting up a community hub, creating name logo and slogan for their market food stall.
Christine said: “Regular weekly food deliveries are given to the pupils who give out to families from the school. Thank you to St Matthew’s which has tackled food waste and the pupils eating to save our planet.”
