Police have seized two vehicles in Bolton which were found to have uninsured drivers behind the wheel.

Officers say they spotted a BMW on College Way, just off St Helens Road.

They said they saw the driver was spotted inhaling balloons.

Police found the car had no insurance as the motorist had borrowed his friend's car and was on the way back from getting food.

A spokesman for GMP Bolton South said: "Officers from GMP TransporUnit sighted BMW 5 series on College Way after driver observed inhaling balloons whilst driving.

"Vehicle stopped and driver found to have been en route back from a local chicken shop having borrowed his friends car without insurance."

Later on police said they saw an Audi on Bow Street.

The driver was unable to produce an insurance for the vehicle.

GMP Bolton South said: "Both drivers reported for prosecution and both vehicles seized."
