People are being "packed in like sardines" today, Monday, as trains running through Bolton are cancelled.
Trains running from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North and Hazel Grove to Blackpool North have been axed due to missing members of staff.
Train operator Northern's website said the 3pm Hazel Grove train to Blackpool North due in at 4:48pm was cancelled, due to a member of train crew being unavailable.
One train user said: "It's horrendous.
"We were packed in like sardines and people were desperate to get on the train because so many were being cancelled, you never know when the next one would come.
"At a time when we are just coming out of a pandemic and trying to encourage people to use public transport, it's ridiculous."
Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern said “We are sorry that our customers are experiencing busy services at the moment due the availability of train crew."We urge customers to check immediately before they travel and services updates are available on the Northern website or National Rail Enquiries website."
