An Italian restaurant with an Indian twist will be opening soon in Bolton.

The new Derby Street diner will offer Italian delicacies in the way of chimney cone desserts as well as grilled Italian and Indian inspired food.

Fresto has been opened by Shoiab Khan, who lived in Italy for 20 years prior to moving to Bolton in 2015.

The restaurant should soon be open after rennovations have been completed

Shoiab worked in many Italian diners and cafes and fell in love with the country and its food.

He said: “Italy is the most romantic place with food that you just can’t get enough of.

“I tried so many different things like chimney cones, arancini, the classic and authentic pizza and pasta as well many others.

“I never got bored of the food, it was one of the most beautiful things about Italy, the food is second to none.”

Since trying to fulfil his own food fantasy, Shoiab bought the space on Derby Street after an idea to serve Italian food.

Shoiab says he cannot wait for people to try the famous Italian chimney cones.

This is the twisted pastry filled ice cream dessert and customers will be able to choose different types of flavours.

Shoiab said: “I am excited to open and see what people will think of this because it has not been done in Bolton before.

“It’s something different and I want people to try it. They can order any type of cone they like because we’ll be adding a variety.

“But we won’t stop here, we’ll have ice cakes and Italian gelato as well as waffle sticks.”

It wasn’t just dessert and pasta that Shoiab fell in love with in Italy, but Italian coffee as well, which will also be a staple drink at the diner.

He said: “You haven’t tried the best coffee if you haven’t tried Italian coffee, it’s just amazing.

“Traditional Italian coffee will be served at Fresto and we’ll give you the real taste of Italy but in Bolton.”
