Nolly film crew issued with parking tickets in Bolton

For town centre parking wardens slapped a ticket on a vintage bus, being used as a prop in a major new ITV drama.

Film crews moved into Le Mans Crescent last night to start shooting for a new television drama starring Helena Bonham Carter.

The Bolton News understands that parking bays on Le Mans Crescent were suspended on Tuesday night until noon today to accommodate the filming, but the production schedule overran into Wednesday morning

Once that time expired, it is understood parking wardens stuck a ticket on the bus.

The bus was driven into the town to create the scene for new three-part series called Nolly, starring the Harry Potter star.

Walking past, John Burton said: “I was in town when I saw a parking warden put a ticket on the bus, in the words of Victor Meldrew I would say “I don’t believe it’ – but I do.

“It is an absolute shambles, it is so pathetic.

“Bolton Council talk about attracting filming to the town saying it brings in revenue and to do this.

“The vehicles were obviously part of the production."

Shop fronts were also redecorated as part of the set dressing to turn Bolton into Birmingham.

A sign nearby shows that all pay and display bays are suspended to the general public from May 31 12am to 11.59am today, which means the crew may have gone over the allocated time.

The drama will focuses on the life of iconic soap actress Noele Gordon, best known for her role on seventies series Crossroads and is written by acclaimed Doctor Who and It’s a Sin screenwriter Russell T Davies.
