Deane has been identified as a fly-tipping hotspot.

Council chiefs say the the area is susceptible to higher levels of flytipping offences.

Residents say they are angry at the amount of rubbish being illegally dumped near their properties.

One resident, who wants to remain anonymous, said the rubbish that has been dumped by fly-tippers at the back of his property on Blackledge Street, close to Alexandra Children's Centre, is causing flies and rats.

He also said himself and his partner feel like they can't let their children play outside.

The resident said: "It is an ongoing issue and has caused the backstreets/ gardens to be infested with flies and rats.

"The council occasionally come to remove the mess but only ever take one or two things then we don't see them again for weeks.

"It's making the whole area angry, me and my partner feel like we can't let our children play outside in the garden due to the smell and flies.

"It would probably be best to put community skips in the backstreets, or changing the bin collection days back to every week."

Another resident, Wendy Ann, shared her disgust at the fly-tipping that has been left on the back of Deane Church Lane.

Wendy is part of a local litter picking group, Daubhill and Deane Litter Pickers, and she said fly tipping is a constant issue.

She said: "Fly tipping is a massive problem in the area even after it has been collected people still fly tipping with other things.

"It makes me feel annoyed when I see the mess everywhere.

"I, along with some other people run a litter picking group called the Daubhill and Deane litter pickers and it's a constant battle to keep the areas clean.

"I think people should be fined if they are fly tipping."

This isn't the first time fly-tipping has been an issue in the area.

In January, residents were left feeling outraged when bin bags had been ripped apart and dumped near Dove Mill at the back of Deane Church Lane.

A spokesperson for Bolton Council said: "The council regularly attends Deane Church Lane to remove waste that has been dumped illegally.

"This is in response to reports from local residents.

"Unfortunately this area is susceptible to higher levels of flytipping offences.

"We constantly remind residents and business owners of their legal obligation to dispose of their waste responsibly.

"As with any flytipping in the borough, those found responsible will be served with a Fixed Penalty Notice or even prosecuted."
