A DJ, who is originally from Bolton, will be making a return to the dancefloors of the town this weekend.

John Leather used to tear up the floors in Bolton from 2005 to 2017, at now-closed venues Blind Tiger and Kico.

But he’s making a return to the town with a new club night called Fresh as a Daisy, which will launch on Saturday, June 11.

The night, which will be at Bar Four in the Market Place, is focused on those who want to start partying earlier and get home earlier.

John spoke about the new night and the inspiration for it.

He said: “I’m launching a new night on Saturday. Out of the blue I was available this weekend and I used to do a lot in the town back in the day.

“I moved about five years ago to Warrington, it’s not a million miles away but I’ve not done anything in town once, so I wanted to come back.”

He continued: “This night is aimed at those who want to party, but don’t want it to take over their entire weekend.

“It’s inspired by my early indie nights in Bolton, so there will be plenty of indie anthems. New Order, Joy Division, Happy Mondays, and some newer stuff like Arctic Monkeys, Courteeners, Blossoms.”

John recognised that people need to have a good time in spite of other worries.

He said: “It’s nearly two pounds a litre of fuel and that has an impact, but people still need a fix – it’ll be good to get out and reconnect with people.”

Although he’s spent five years away from Bolton, John hasn’t just been twiddling his thumbs.

He said: “Last weekend I played Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham, which was at the racecourse.

“I played that alongside Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Boney M and The Undertones among others. I played a movie inspired set, 80s Movie Disco.”
