New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to seven of Bolton’s establishments.

Three takeaways have been awarded low ratings, where some major, or urgent improvements were required.

Simpsons Fried Chicken at 140 Albert Road, Farnworth, was handed a two-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 13.

The inspection report stated that their hygiene food handling, and management of food safety were generally satisfactory, but cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, required necessary improvement.

Paradiso Pizza at 222 Albert Road, Farnworth, was handed a one-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 27.

The inspection report stated that their hygiene food handling, and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, required necessary improvement, and major improvement was necessary for management of food safety.

And Shed 331 at Egerton Cricket Club, Blackburn Road, Egerton, was handed a zero-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 14.

Manager Julie Dobson explained that this rating was due to a temporary structure in place in their oven area.

She said: “We understand that Bolton Council was unable to give us a rating for our oven area as it was a temporary structure at that time.

“We have followed their advice to create a structure that meets their guidelines and look forward to receiving a re-rating in due course.”

Julie also said that they were awarded a five-star rating for their food preparation facilities, which Julie says she is "delighted with".

Two takeaways have also been awarded a five out of five rating for hygiene standards.

Chopstix Noodle Bar at 37 The Linkway, Horwich, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 14.

Holts Riverside Fish & Chips at 71-73 Market Street, Stoneclough, Radcliffe, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 26.

One restaurant, cafe or canteen was also given a five-star rating.

Believe Achieve C.I.C youth centre at 145 Market Street, Farnworth, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 17.

The inspection report stated that their hygiene food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety were all very good.

And Blackrod Cricket Club at Vicarage Road, Blackrod, was handed a four -out-of-five rating after assessment on March 13.

On the inspection report, they were handed "good" and generally satisfactory.
